NC500

2021

NC500 is a visual journey exploring the varied and rugged territories of the North Coast 500; a route known as the “Scottish route 66”. Stretching over 500 miles along the north Coast of Scotland, the NC500 is a well frequented tourist destination that many explore via motorised vehicles or even by bicycle and on foot. While one might think that this tourism brings with it money that can be spent locally, the nature of the Scottish highlands actually don’t allow for many such opportunities. Many guests that travel through this region consume their own food and sleep in their own tents, and motorhomes, leaving no opportunity for the locals to benefit from the popularity of the route. It seems as though this region has been used by many travellers that consume, rather than maintain the land that they visit.
